Services
When you get contact lenses on medical referral, you will not have to pay the full amount of the lenses yourself. Visser + Ophtalmo offers you the option of choose for the third-party payment scheme. This means that Visser + Ophtalmo will provide you with all the necessary documents for you to sign so that Visser + Ophtalmo can take up payment directly with your health insurer. That way you're only required to pay the amount above the reimbursement of the RIZIV. The RIZIV applies different reimbursements depending on the type of contact lens. Our optometrists will discuss in detail which type of contact lens would be your best solution, so it will always be clear what costs would be involved.
Our way of working
When you come to Visser + Ophtalmo for your first consultation, a comprehensive intake will take place. During this first appointment, our optometrist will determine whether you are suitable to wear lenses and which lenses will suit you best. All necessary measurements and preliminary examinations as part of a contact lens journey are taken.
Visser + Ophtalmo will then order lenses for you and immediately schedule a second appointment. During this second appointment, the optometrist fits the lenses to your eyes for the first time and checks the fit and strength. If everything is as it should be, a Visser + Ophtalmo practice assistant will teach you how to insert and remove the lenses yourself. You will also receive detailed information on the use and maintenance of the lenses.
A check-up appointment is planned some two weeks later to evaluate how wearing the lenses is going and whether comfort and vision are to your liking. Visser + Ophtalmo provides sufficient time so that potential problems can be discussed. For optimal eye health and lens performance, we recommend periodic checkups, usually every six months.
During these checks, the optometrist assesses the health of your eyes, the fit and strength of the lenses and whether the lenses need replacement. If the optometrist sees any abnormalities in your eyes during the first appointment, you will be referred back to your treating ophthalmologist.
